Venice was the birthplace of the Doors. Before their fame and fortune as one of the top rock bands of their time, the Doors played for the Venice locals. You could catch their show at the Cheetah on the Ocean Park Pier. Jim Morrison actually lived in one of the houses on the Venice canals. The Doors were the epitome of the Venice culture in the Sixties. Hollywood director Oliver Stone brought his production crew back to Venice to film the history of Jim Morrison and the Doors, and he didn't have to look far for authentic-looking extras.

Shelby Mustang Gets its Start in Venice
Carroll Hall Shelby was one of America’s premiere sports car drivers in the 60s until a heart condition ended his career. He decided to turn to race car manufacturing. In 1964, he opened his first Shelby manufacturing plant in Venice, California. Shelby would convert a stock Ford Mustang into a gutsy, stiff, loud, and incredibly fast street-legal race car.

Venice High School Stands and Delivers
In 1996, the Venice High School Science Department won the National Science Bowl. Out of 54 teams across the United States, Venice High School captured the award. The energetic chemistry teacher Richard Erdman has brought the high school to the National Science Bowl three times. This demonstrates how a teacher can enthuse and motivate students. Quite a feat in the rough and tumble streets of Los Angeles.

Ince Field, California
Ince Field was located on the corner of what now is Venice Blvd. and Abbot Kenny Blvd. It was the first official airport of California and was the starting point for Trans Pac race of 1914. Unable to extend the runway due to the urban sprawl surrounding it, Ince Field was replaced by houses and stores in 1923.

Kailua

Kailua is a town, located in the City & County of Honolulu, in the Ko'olaupoko District of O'ahu on the windward coast at Kailua Bay.

In the Hawaiian language Kailua means "two seas" a contraction of the words kai (meaning water) and ?elua (meaning two); it is so named because of the two lagoons in the district. As of the 2000 Census, the CDP had a total population of 36,513, approximately as large as nearby Kane'ohe. Kailua is primarily a residential community, with a centralized commercial district along Kailua Road.

Kailua Beach has been repeatedly ranked among the best beaches worldwide. It was ranked as #1 U.S. beach in 1998

Rancho Santa Fe

Rancho Santa Fe is an unincorporated census-designated place located in San Diego County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,252. It is the highest income community in the United States with at least 1,000 households.

Rancho Santa Fe has restrictions that set it apart from most other communities. There are no traffic signals, and there are no streets that are wider than two lanes. Many streets outside of the downtown area are lined with landscaping, although on side streets the landscaping of individual properties serves as ample ambient decor. Very few homes are visible from outside of their respective properties.  Click here to go to the Rancho Santa Fe official website.

A downtown area exists. It is centered around the intersection of Linea del Cielo/Paseo Delicias and La Granada/Via de Santa Fe. It is the site of offices of financial firms, restaurants, and small stores. A library and a school are also located here. Outside of this area, Rancho Santa Fe is exclusively residential except for a number of golf courses and country clubs.
